Research - Argentina

My research showed me how much the Argentinean culture has been a bit abandoned for an European one, because most of its populations is descendent of European immigrants (Italy, Spain and France mainly). This has had an impact on the fine arts on the politics but also on the architecture.

This gave me the idea to try to analyse the process of copy or inspiration from European architecture and try to translate that process from Indigenous architecture and way of living. The mix of the two inspirations, one for the process, the other one from the proper architecture, would maybe a good participation to a cultural identity research.

Added to this is the arrival of Black Africans through enslavment, with most being trafficked from Angola. Since the second half of the 20th century : the new immigration is mainly latino-american immigration, from the neighbouring countries

Argentinean immigration is mostly composed by Bolivian, Paraguyan, Peruvian and Chilean people

They are attracted to a richer neighbouring country but for the first time it is not a will of the state

Religion

Today : Christianity is by far the dominant religion in Argentina (76.5% of Roman Catholic and 9% of Protestant) and the majority of them are nonpracticing. The majority of the remaining population is agnostic, atheist or indifferent. The faith’s influence, however, is strongly reflected in government and society.

Immigration brought Jewish and Muslim settlers who formed small but notable communities throughout the country. Nevertheless, the Jewish community of Argentina is the largest in South America.

More recently, the United States and the European immigrants increased Mormon, Protestant or Pentecostal faiths.
